Hollywood Mann's Chinese Theater

There is arguably no movie theater more famous in the world than the Hollywood Mann's Chinese Theater. Built in 1927 by Sid Grauman, the Chinese (as it is commonly known in Los Angeles) has been the home of countless movie premieres. As its name entails, the exterior and interior of the theater is designed with traditional Chinese decorations, and the level of detail makes it one of the most spectacular movie houses in existence.

Hollywood Mann's Chinese Theater: A Historical Landmark

In addition to its impressive auditorium, the Chinese Theater is also home to numerous celebrities' hand and foot prints. Started by its founder, Sid Grauman, a bevy of movie stars have had our impressions embedded into the theater's courtyard. Although only a select few have found permanent residency in front of the theater, celebrities continue the tradition every year, although the newer additions only remain on display for a limited period of time before being moved into storage.

By 1968, the Chinese Theater was designated as a cultural landmark. It saw a temporary name change in 1973, when it was purchased by Ted Mann (who owns the Mann's chain of theaters), but reverted to its original name, Grauman's Chinese Theater in 2001, after being entirely renovated. Located right next to the Kodak Theater on Hollywood Boulevard it is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Los Angeles and one of the most visited.

Visiting Grauman's Chinese Theater is like visiting a part of Hollywood history. It is still a fully operational theater and always showcases one of Hollywood's latest releases. Having been completely restored, it boasts the best in projection and sound technology.
