Six Flags Magic Mountain is a must-see attraction for the thrill seeker. In the summer of 2011, this popular L.A. amusement park broke the world record for the most roller coasters in a single location. So hang on to your hat, ladies and gentlemen, and get ready for the ride of your life!
Situated on 260 acres, Magic Mountain first opened its doors in 1971. Today it's home to over 50 rides, including 17 roller coasters. Visitors can explore nine separate areas: Six Flags Plaza, Baja Ridge, Cyclone Bay, DC Universe, Samurai Summit, Rapids Camp Crossing, Colossus County Fair, High Sierra Territory, and The Movie District.
Roller coaster enthusiasts will love Revolution. Constructed in 1976, it was the first 360 degree steel looping roller coaster. Surrounded by lush landscaping, riders can't see what's coming next. If you're a fan of classic wooden roller coasters, don't miss Colossus. Built in 1978, it was the fastest and largest dual tracked coaster in its day. Several other notable and record breaking coasters still attract daredevils of all ages. Ninja was the first ever suspended swing roller coaster, Goliath had the longest (255 feet) and fastest (85 mph) drop of any closed circuit roller coaster in the world in the year 2000, and Viper still holds the world record for the tallest looping roller coaster.
There's also plenty of fun things to do for those under 48 inches. Children can go and play with the Looney Tunes Gang in Bugs Bunny World. Take to the sky on Yosemite Sam's Flight School, go for a spin on Pepe Le Pew's Tea Party, or catch a ride on Foghorn Leghorn's Barn and Railway. Snap a few pics with your favorite Looney Tunes character, then head over to DC Universe to meet the Justice League Superheroes.
When you're ready to eat, there's tons of options. You'll find hamburgers and fries at Johnny Rockets, delicious BBQ at Katy's Kettle, and the theme park classic, the funnel cake, at Suzette's Bakery. And don't forget to load up on souvenirs at the park's many shops! Comic book fans will love the DC Universe Store, there's unique wood craft carvings for sale in the Wood Shop and racks of clothing and accessories to browse in Studio 6F.
